Setting up VMS site locations to analyse traffic flows

With VMS 7.2, several reports now include your site locations to indicate where your calls are coming from and going to. This can help you get a better feel for the telephone traffic across your network.

For example, the Location Matrix report displays the number of calls between sites. These can be filtered by the type of call (such as Extension-to-extension, or Extension-to-PSTN).

To use this, configure the VMS with your site locations. It's optional, so you can leave it out if you wish.
Locations are setup in the VMS administration. Firstly, create the site locations, and then assign the CUCM device pools to each location. All the devices within that pool will be associated with the location.

You may also restrict the locations that a user will see in their reports. To do this, assign the user to the locations you want them to see.

To setup a location
  1. Log onto the VMS administration
  2. Go to the Locations tab [Breadcrumbs: Locations].

Editing the user list is similar. Use the Users list to manage who can view the location by clicking the pencil icon in the Users list. [Locations > Location > Users]

People in the Member list will be able to see the location in their reports. Click on the User name to swap it between the Available list and the Member list. If the available list is too long, use the Search box to filter the list.

To return to the location screen, use the links in the breadcrumbs.
